Our first Blog post

Welcome to the Five Points Merchants blog. This is our first blog post. Every week we will be talking about what’s happening with Five Points Merchants. For instance, we’ll have chefs from our restaurants talking about what is in season, we’ll profile events that have happened in the area, and much more! Please check back regularly to read up about what is going on with Five Points at the new Five Points Merchants website.

Great Site! As a student at UAB, I get excited about our community becoming more and more family friendly and safe. I’ll definitely be at upcoming events and look forward to seeing Five Points continue to improve and thrive!

Just wanted to say that the 4th of July Block Party was great!!!! We really had a great time. One suggestion is the addition of port-o-potties. Everyone in our group would have gladly paid a couple of bucks to have this luxery. Probably could have really made some revenue if the local restaurants had set up food and drink stands. I’m expecting great things for the future of 5 points, one of our favorite places to hang out.

with the tradegy this past weekend, it is time for the Mayor to focus on this entertainment district - not unrealistic pie in the sky areas. It is time for the City to figure out how to work with UAB and the local landlords and merchants to fix the one potentially great entertainment area
that has the nationally recognized restuarants and beautiful architecture..This needs to happen now before 5-points declines futher.

ONB has moved the St Patrick’s day parade to Saturday March 14th to arrive in Five Points. Two years ago merchants in Five Points gave high marks for the parade as it was great for business. This year we will have a stage with bands and dancers. We would love Five Point’s input and suggestions.
